Export Cognero XML
A Cognero XML file is a text file saved locally on your computer that contains all of the information for a question set or test. You can create XML files from your own content to share that content with other users.
To export a Cognero XML file (instructor):
-
Open a question set or test by dragging it to the editor pane.
-
Choose Export > Cognero XML from the File menu.
-
The Cognero XML file is saved to your local hard drive. You may now share this XML file with other users. These users can import the XML file to use the content in their account.
Note: Cognero XML files that were created from publisher-provided content include digital rights management. Only instructors who are authorized to use the content will be able to import the Cognero XML file.
To export a Cognero XML file (publisher):
Publishers can select a specific version of Cognero XML to export. In most cases, you should export the most current version of the Cognero XML. The only reason to export a previous version is if you are performing content manipulations outside of the system that use a previous version of the XML.
-
Open a question set or test by dragging it to the editor pane.
-
Choose Export > Cognero XML from the File menu.
-
Select a version of Cognero XML from the menu. In most cases, you will want to export the current version of the XML.
-
Version 10 contains changes to support the new drag-and-drop question.
-
Version 9 contains changes that allow multi-blank questions to accept answers that are multiple lines long and for multi-blank questions to be manually graded.
-
Version 8 contains changes to support the new multi-blank question type. The schema for Version 7 and 8 are the same except for the addition of the multi-blank question. If a set or test does not contain any multi-blank questions, there will be no difference between a version 8 and 7 XML file.
-
Version 7 is prior to addition of multi-blank questions. If a set or test contains multi-blank questions, those questions will not be included in a version 7 export.
