On the Answer tab you can enter a range of acceptable values. You can enter answer ranges as a simple inclusive range or a complex range.
Simple Inclusive Range
For a simple range, you can enter the beginning and end of the range separated by ellipsis (...). For example: 1...10. When separating the values with an ellipsis both numbers are included in the range. If you enter 1...10, then an answer between 1 and 10, including 1 and 10, will be accepted as correct.
Complex Range
You can also enter a range within brackets [ ] or parentheses ( ) with the two limits separated by a common. Use brackets to indicate that a number is included in the range or parentheses to indicate that a number should not be included. For example: (1, 10) or [-5.2, 6.3] or [20, 30) or (15, 80].
[1, 10] - Answers between 1 and 10, including 1 and 10, are correct. This is the same as the simple inclusive range of 1...10.
(1, 10) - Answers between 1 and 10, not including 1 or 10, are correct.
1 or 10 would be wrong.
1.0001 or 9.9999 would be correct.
(1, 10] - Answers between 1 and 10, not including 1, are correct.
1 would be wrong.
10 would be correct.
1.0001 would be correct.
[1, 10) - Answers between 1 and 10, not including 10, are correct.
1 would be right.
10 would be wrong.
9.9 would be right.
Caution:
To use a range of answers, Restrict to numeric only must be selected on the Answer tab.
Arithmetic equivalency must be selected on the Grading tab.
Questions with a range of values will not work if exported for an LMS.
